Feed Sponge v1.4.3

Jan. 20, 2011, 10:20 p.m.

The biggest change this time around was a major refactoring of the playback. The new method has split all of the playback into a service and made the GUI elements of playback completely optional except in the obvious case of Video playback. The result is a much more reliable Next operation without requiring that the app has focus.

Other features added include a boot-time hook to restart the download schedule and the ability to prevent episode deletion on a per-feed basis.

How did we get from 1.4.0 to 1.4.3 so fast? Refactoring the playback in its entirety worked great on my Incredible and the original Moto Droid...not so much on the DroidX or Samsung Moment. Chalk it up to testing with only a single handset. Variations in the MediaPlayer class from model to model are plentiful. I almost want a buggier phone just so I can find these problems before I push the upgrade...nah.
